Best of My Year

I was thinking about posting a list of the best books I read this year (regardless of when published) when I was asked to do that very thing for Aqueduct Press's website  So, anyone interested may read it here: http://aqueductpress.blogspot.com/

thanks for the link to your list, Lisa - I love reading people's "best of" lists, for some perverse reason! Of the fiction you picked, the only (new) one I'd read was Doctorow's Little Brother, which bugged me, partly because I lived in San Francisco for a long time and there are a few gaffs, but mostly because the assumption that even smart adults in SF would just agree to all the fascist laws being enacted annoyed me no end! Of course, as you point out, the audience was teenagers, but still...

I'll look for Memoirs of a Master Forger as I liked the only Graham Joyce I've read thus far, The Facts of Life. It'll be interesting to see which title and, indeed, which name for the author, is given here in Canada!

Lastly, I read all the Sandman graphic novels written by Neil in the 1980s, and I'm not a graphic novel reader in general at all. (Actually, I think the only graphic novels I've read have either been written by Neil or are Maus {g}). Yes, all his Sandman stuff is of very high quality, both word-wise and picture-wise. Most are I think collected in a series of hardcover books, which are certainly more findable now than the original "comix" version, but in either format they're well worth searching out!

Sorry to be so long-winded; you might have inspired me to do a best-of book list myself this year....
